The Project
The Artist Vibe is a seasonal show highlighting the work of local visual and performing artists and craft artisans from marginalized communities. In 2025 Artist Vibe will consist of five episodes, filmed live in Wheaton, Maryland. To promote personal and professional development, local youth will take on specific production roles.
Objectives
Why TAV?Recent studies reveal a significant gap in diversity within the arts, spanning visual arts, film, fashion, and more. The representation of non-white individuals in these fields remains alarmingly low. For instance, merely 11% of the artworks in major U.S. museums are created by non-white artists.
Art should reflect the diverse experiences of the people in society. However, research indicates that the arts in the U.S. often fail to provide meaningful opportunities for visual and performing artists from historically marginalized communities. |
